Oxbridge Hosts Character Counts Student Leaders Forum

Oxbridge Tutorial College hosted the first “Character Counts Leaders’ Forum” on the 19th of January, 2013. It was an elaborate programme meant to further promote the global character building programme which most schools are embracing, to curb the menace of character deficiency in our country. The programme is built around what is considered the 6 pillars of character: Trustworthiness Respect Responsibility Fairness Caring Citizenship The premises of Oxbridge was a beehive of activity as close to 140 students drawn from 22 schools were in attendance. After the presentations by the Coordinator of the programme in Nigeria, Prince Nnagozie Ochi and the Managing Director of the host college, Dr. (Mrs.) C.O Ogunsanya, the students began a series of activities designed to instill the substance of character in them. Each character pillar is allocated a class, where different activities took place, from discussions, video viewing, card playing to drama cum demonstrations. One activity that however drew quite a lot of visitors was the one that teaches “Trust”. In the open college Sporting Arena, a maze setting was created where the participants were blindfolded and led round. Words were not allowed and the blindfolded had to rely solely on the trust and direction of his guide. Quite revealing and interesting! The visitors equally had the unique opportunity to tour the ultra-modern facilities of the college. Ooh; there were quite a lot of refreshments too! And when the event concluded at 3:40pm, the students and their teachers had a really good time 🙂...
